Finding God In The Chaos Series: Strength in Surrender

Scripture: “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Surrender

To wait is to trust. To wait is to believe that God’s timing is better than ours.

Waiting is one of the hardest things God asks us to do. Our culture trains us to hustle, push, and make things happen. If we’re honest, waiting often feels like wasting. We want results now, answers now, breakthroughs now. But Isaiah reminds us that those who wait on the Lord are not left weaker, they are renewed.

To wait is to trust. To wait is to believe that God’s timing is better than ours. The world may applaud striving, but God strengthens us in surrender. Like an eagle soaring high, our strength comes not from frantic flapping but from resting in the wind of God’s Spirit.

Think about a child learning to walk. They stumble, they fall, and yet they’re never worried about the pace of their growth. Their parent knows the right time for each step. In the same way, God knows when to move us forward and when to keep us waiting. What feels like delay is often His preparation.

When we refuse to wait, we take control into our own hands and often end up exhausted. But when we surrender, we discover a strength that outlasts human effort. His timing may not always align with our plans, but it is always perfect.

Reflection Questions:

  • Where in your life do you struggle with waiting?

  • How has rushing ahead ever left you drained or discouraged?

  • What might God be strengthening in you during this season of waiting?

Takeaway: Strength doesn’t come from control, it comes from surrendering to God’s timing.

Prayer:
Father, I admit that waiting is hard for me. I like to be in control, to see answers quickly, and to know what comes next. But Your Word reminds me that my strength is found not in striving, but in waiting on You. Teach me to surrender my impatience. When I feel restless, remind me that You are always working behind the scenes. Fill me with the assurance that Your timing is perfect and that You never forget me. Help me soar like an eagle, lifted by Your Spirit, rather than exhausting myself with my own effort. Lord, renew my strength today. Make me steady in the waiting and faithful in the trusting. Amen.

Action Step: The next time you feel rushed or anxious about timing, pause and whisper, “Lord, I trust You.”
